July 9, 2015 – Looking at our infrastructures from a digital perspective, they are without mutual benefit. In a clearer way you cannot describe what has to be changed urgently. How can we stop departmental thinking and rather support trans-sectoral thinking? Does “digital” need to become the official language, so that the players understand and can learn from each other? The organization MÜNCHENER KREIS, the metropolitan region Rhine-Neckar and the Research Alliance Intelligent Infrastructure and Networks organized an expert symposium in Heidelberg on June 25th. Experts from science, politics and economy discussed the obvious and future effects of digital shift on the basic infrastructures transport, health, energy, administration and education. Jochen Leufen went to Heidelberg to support MÜNCHENER KREIS with its press activities on-site.
The participants of the symposium agreed on the fact that intelligent interlinking of infrastructures offers a gigantic added value potential in times of rapid digitalization. As obstacles to digital transformation the lack of political responsibility and hesitant investments were identified. The experts demanded a culture of public test rooms, living labs as well as a culture of open cooperation. The integration of the population on its way to a self-confident and informed internet bourgeoisie should be triggered by clear benefit, financial incentives and participative elements.
