World Refugee Day at Amazon: Just lend a hand

26.06.2023 | CustomerAffairs

While the world gazes mesmerized at the lost submarine of five researchers, we hardly notice the countless shipwrecks of boats full of refugees. Amazon's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work also prompted us at HeadlineAffairs to re-evaluate these discrepancies in perception on the occasion of World Refugee Day on June 20. Did you know, for example, that one in 78 people worldwide are currently forced to leave their homes due to war or natural disasters? Faced with these and other shocking statistics, we were able to help provide aid and raise awareness for refugees on World Refugee Day.

Following various internal appeals, we worked with our client to bring together over 450 employees at the Amazon office in Munich and the nearby fulfillment center in Graben for a “Kitting Event”. The Amazonians packed a total of 20.000 hygiene kits containing sustainably produced soap, shampoo, shower gel, bamboo toothbrushes, denta tabs and a personal message. The materials were provided by charity partner Clean the World, while the International Organization for Migration ensured that the finished kits reached the refugees directly.

In times of ubiquitous crises and uncertainty, we are grateful to be working with a client like Amazon that not only takes a looks, but also takes action. The atmospheric music and highly motivated volunteers made helping even more fun. We are already looking forward to the next campaign!
