No watering cans at Amazon

Ein Amazon Volunteer während seiner tatkräftigen Unterstützung in der Gemeinde Graben.Amazon Germany wants to get involved where its employees live and work. This is why the company is not only committed at a national level or around its headquarters here in Munich, but also at over 100 sites in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. Since its foundation, we have supported the Amazon Ops Community Engagement Team, which is centrally responsible for corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the logistics sites.

The extensive network of sites poses particular challenges for a CSR strategy: Each community or city has different challenges, as do the employees. On the other hand, a company's commitment should always follow a clear strategy and not a watering can principle.

In recent years, we have been able to support Amazon in providing its many sites with the tools they need to get involved locally. We support our clients in the right choice of non-profit organizations, donation processing as well as internal and external communication around CSR programs. In particular, focus campaigns such as "Back to School" and "Amazon Goes Gold" are loved by Amazon employees. Carefully packed toolkits with manuals, posters, instructions for hands-on activities and much more sites to participate in these global campaigns and to get involved, especially for children in their neighborhoods.

In addition to this plannable CSR, Amazon has also been particularly active in the area of disaster relief. In order to provide this level of help, the company uses its strengths and resources, such as its well-developed logistics network, and relies on the passion and commitment of its employees. For instance, to help after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria: More than one million people were reached with emergency aid measures. Two aircraft and 422 truckloads of relief supplies were sent to the two countries with the support of the national partners in Turkey and the implementing partners in north-western Syria.
